The Exhibition

Photographers Yvonne Albe and Markus Albert, in collaboration with the environmental organisation ROBIN WOOD, present the exhibition Forest Realms: Between Splendour and Crisis at Open-Nord Frankfurt. Hosted by Sven Kils – Photography, the exhibition will be on view until 27 February 2026 on selected afternoons.

This collaborative project brings together artistic photography and environmental advocacy. Through their photographic works, Albe and Albert explore the visual richness, atmosphere, and emotional depth of forest landscapes. Their images reveal both the quiet grandeur and the fragile presence of these ecosystems.

Complementing the artistic perspective, ROBIN WOOD—represented by forest specialist Jana Ballenthien—provides factual context and insight into the current challenges facing forests today. By combining visual art with informed documentation, the exhibition creates a space for reflection, awareness, and dialogue.

“The splendour of our forests is inseparable from our responsibility to protect them,” says Markus Albert. “Bringing together photography and environmental engagement was a natural and meaningful step for us.” Jana Ballenthien adds: “Through the interplay of art and information, we aim to deepen public awareness of the profound crisis affecting forest ecosystems and to encourage active engagement in their preservation.”

Forest Realms: Between Splendour and Crisis highlights the diversity, beauty, and ecological significance of forests while addressing the urgent threats they face. Visitors are invited not only to experience the works aesthetically, but also to reflect on their own relationship with the natural world.

ROBIN WOOD’s initiatives can be supported through donations at the exhibition. In addition, 15% of the proceeds from the sale of selected limited-edition photographic works will be donated to the organisation, directly contributing to the protection of forest environments.

This time he appears simply as the host of this beautiful exhibition, taking place in his new studio, Open-Nord, in the heart of Frankfurt’s Nordend. A nature photographer himself, he is delighted to be able to open his space to fellow artists. His own work, particularly his large-scale panoramic pieces, reflects a quiet and attentive engagement with the landscape, exploring the subtle relationship between untamed nature and human presence.
